Who qualifies for EFRAG membership? How can you contribute to EFRAG’s work on preparing draft EU sustainability reporting standards?

On 16 November 2021, EFRAG issued a call for expressions of interest in EFRAG membership focusing on EFRAG’s sustainability reporting activities to ensure a balanced representation of all relevant stakeholders. The call triggered a number of questions in relation to timing, process and who qualifies for EFRAG membership. With this briefing note, we hope to clarify a number of issues.

EFRAG launched a call for expressions of interest for new member organisations in order to have a balanced representation for all stakeholders with an interest in corporate reporting in its new sustainability reporting pillar.

EFRAG seeks to broaden its existing European Stakeholders Organisations Chapter and National Organisations Chapters and to populate its new Civil Society Chapter reflecting EFRAG’s public-private partnership mode.

Following the launch of the call for expressions of interest on 16 November, several interested European stakeholders requested more information. In order to clarify some points, EFRAG publishes today a briefing note to respond to the frequently asked questions.

The EFRAG General Assembly will decide on the admission of new EFRAG Member Organisations at its 16 December meeting. Therefore the deadline for applications to EFRAG membership has been set at 8 December 2021. However, organisations may join EFRAG’s membership at later stages.
