Maria has developed her entire professional career in roles related to accounting. First, as an auditor in Arthur Andersen, and after that, in the accounting department in BBVA playing different roles since 2000. Currently, She is the Head of Accounting and Prudential Policies in BBVA Group. Therefore, Maria is in charge of the definition of developing the corporate accounting policies that must be applied for preparing the consolidated financial statements for BBVA Group. BBVA is a global financial services group. It has a strong leadership position in the Spanish market, is the largest financial institution in Mexico, it has leading franchises in South America and it is also the leading shareholder in Garanti, Turkey's biggest bank for market capitalization.
