​​Sustainability reporting professionals: apply now for a 9 to 12 months compensated position at EFRAG


The European Commission’s proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) published on 21 April 2021, envisages the adoption of EU sustainability reporting standards. The draft standards would be developed by EFRAG.

EFRAG started the interim technical work with the PTF-NFRS continuing under the name Project Task Force on European sustainability reporting standards (PTF-ESRS). 

We are looking for sustainability reporting professionals, to join the PTF-ESRS team in a 9 to 12 months compensated position. The new team members are expected to contribute 50% of their time at a minimum. Joining in a compensated position can be either through a short-term employment contract or through a secondment agreement.

We seek candidates at different levels from junior to senior level, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

EFRAG announces in-kind secondment positions to support its team working on the development of draft European sustainability reporting standards

​The European Commission’s proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) published on 21 April 2021, envisages the adoption of EU sustainability reporting standards. The draft standards would be developed by EFRAG. 

EFRAG started the interim technical work with the PTF-NFRS continuing under the name Project Task Force on European sustainability reporting standards (PTF-ESRS). The kick-off of this new phase took place in the first half of June. Several entities and organisations have already made experienced staff available on an in-kind basis for this process, but the option to join is still open.

We are seeking sustainability reporting professionals, initially for a period of 9 to12 months, to give project management and technical support to the PTF-ESRS.  If your organisation is interested to be part of the fast-evolving sustainability developments in Europe, we welcome the opportunity to receive from you a detailed expression of interest.

We are looking for sustainability reporting professionals that can at a minimum contribute 50% of their time. They would be part of the support team for the PTF-ESRS and be expected to work from their existing location, and occasionally, COVID -19 circumstances permitting, may have some meetings in Brussels.

​Work with EFRAG - internships

We offer opportunities for university students and recent graduates in the form of internships lasting between three and 12 months. This will allow interns to acquire an understanding of EFRAG’s work in the financial reporting and/or sustainability reporting fields.

Applicants for an internship are eager to keep learning to get a taste of professional life, discover how we make an impact that matters, and get ahead in your career!

You will gain:

  • An overview of the EFRAG’s objectives and activities
  • A first professional and personal experience in the dynamic world of corporate reporting standard setting and the identification of good reporting practices in an European and global environment
  • Practical knowledge in your area of study

You will work in the EFRAG offices in Brussels (COVID-19 circumstances permitting).

Application requirements
You must have a University degree or be in the final year of your Masters in economics, finance, accountancy or related subjects. In addition, you must meet the following criteria:
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct analytical work, exercise good judgment and work as part of a team;
  • Be proficient in English 

EFRAG pays a compensation based on a Belgium internship contract as a contribution to living costs.

What is EFRAG?
EFRAG is the leading European force in the global financial reporting debate. It was established in 2001 by European stakeholder organisations with an interest in financial reporting, representing the business community, investors and the accountancy profession. EFRAG's activities are aimed at ensuring that European views on the development of financial reporting standards are properly and clearly articulated in the international standard-setting process, so that ultimately IFRS Standards and Interpretations are fit for Europe. Following the implementation of the reform in 2014, EFRAG's activities include assessing whether IFRS Standards proposals/requirements are conducive to the European public good and impact assessments including early-stage analysis. This includes the interaction with economic concerns such as financial stability and economic growth. EFRAG works closely with the IASB, National Standard Setters and European stakeholder organisations, in Europe and worldwide.

In 2018 with the establishment of the European Lab EFRAG has enhanced its activities in the wider corporate reporting debate. In 2020 EFRAG received two mandate from the European Commission on preparatory work on EU sustainability reporting standard setting.
EFRAG is operating in a fast-evolving environment. It is attentive to the need to adapt its activities and its governance to meet new opportunities and challenges in corporate reporting.

What would you do at EFRAG?

You will be involved in research and analyses, supporting EFRAG's activities to influence the developments in IFRS Standards in the most proactive way and leading to the publication of EFRAG comment letters, discussion papers or endorsement advices to the European Commission including early stage analysis. As part of our European Lab activities you support the current projects in term of research and outreach.  Under the supervision of the EFRAG Management Team, you will work on various projects in small teams.  

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in financial and/or sustainability reporting who are eager to participate in the global accounting standard-setting process and the corporate reporting developments.
